Speaking at a Press conference the general secretary of the BBS Ven. Galagoda Gnanasara Thera said that they decided to support the President to defeat all forces that have teamed up against him.

Earlier at a Congress held after the presidential election was announced the BBS had decided to support the President.

But later the Ven. Galagoda Gnanasara Thera said they were yet to decide on whom to support.

However a spokesman for the BBS in response to an inquiry made by SrilankaMirror said they decided to back President Mahinda Rajapaksa after Muslim leaders decided to support Common Opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena.
