Speaking on this regard during a media briefing held at the SLFP headquarters yesterday (21), State minister of Highways - Dilan Perera said that he can state that there is a preparation to get Basil released as a hero, on August 01.
Noting that he feels that the present events are a part of a bigger plan to release Basil as a hero, the State minister says that they will be able to ascertain it on the 01st.
Clearly, there is a conspiracy to split the SLFP written all over certain happenings, he further said.
‘Popular Yahapalana joke’
Meanwhile, a widely circulated FB post touted the arrested Basil Rajapaksa being hospitalised as a ‘popular joke of the Yahapalana (Good Governance) government’.
Speaking in parliament yesterday (22), minister of Law and Order - Sagala Rathnayake said that those who fall ill after being remanded will march once they are bailed.’
He was responding to a question by JVP MP - Nalinda Jayatissa.
Jayatissa had asked, “Minister, the FCID is in your hands. At the present, it is common for politicians to be admitted to either the Prisons Hospital or the National Hospital. Does the FCID seek legal redress only against the sick? At this rate, it will be required to build a FCID ward inside the National Hospital. Such persons could even die when die when coming from Kandy to Colombo, let alone doing a Paada Yatra… Why do politicians fall ill so much?”
