All development efforts of the government are incorporated in this plan, which will be a realization of an election promise by prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

An internationally-acclaimed economist, Mahendran will be assisted in the implementation of the plan by heads of several state and private sector institutions.

Included in the plan will be the ETCA with India, a FTZ with Singapore, an economic pact with China and other international agreements.

Mahendran accompanied Wickremesinghe in his Singapore visit that ended yesterday.
