President orders to stop ministers' foreign tours Featured

President Maithripala Sirisena has ordered to put an immediate stop to the foreign trips of ministers and MPs, reports say.

He had directed them to use the coming time period to identify the crises faced by the public and to provide relief accordingly.

Noting that a certain group is attempting to mislead the public, the President has told the ministers that proper public awareness should be created during the next month.

However, Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is to visit Singapore on July 18 - 19 to sign two pacts with regard to the Megapolis project and training for the state sector.

According to reports, he is to be accompanied by Foreign minister - Mangala Samaraweera, Trade minister - Malik Samarawickreme and secretary to the Prime minister - Saman Ekanayake.
