At the meeting, State minister Dilan Perera has requested the President to contest for the next Presidential election, which falls in 2020.
Minister Nimal Siripala too, has echoed this request, stating that President Sirisena would be the most suitable SLFP candidate.
However, the President had said that his previous stance on this regard remains unchanged.
Minister Nimal Siripala has also suggested that the 20th Constitutional Amendment should be passed before holding the Local Government polls.
He has also added that swift decisions should be taken on changing the electoral system and Executive Presidency.
