She was responding to a website run by Weerawansa that published an article which she said was untrue and defamatory of her and several other leading film personalities.

"What the website reported never took place.This is what you call mudslinging.Now we know who these people are they know what we know about them and how ashamed they should be. They are people without a conscience to publish something with no responsibility. With people like them running the country what can you expect from them. I am not afraid of them and certainly not afraid of the man (Weerawansa) who promotes such false information", said Samanali at a news conference.

The website has since withdrawn the report.

Also present at the news conference with Samanali were veteran film star Dharmasiri Bandaranayake and well acclaimed film directors Parakrama Niriella and Lucien Bulathsinhala along with Damith Fonseka and Rajakaruna who all lambasted Weerawansa's conduct and his website.
