While even the mainstream media was interested to know news about Kumaratunga, it was Sri Lanka Mirror which broke the news that she was in fine health.

In Paris for a personal visit, she met with minister Mangala Samaraweera who is there on official assignment.

From there, she proceeded to London, and is due to return today, Samaraweera told Sri Lanka Mirror.

Chance meeting

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Kumari Paranawithana had a chance meeting with Kumaratunga in Paris, about which she has posted a description on facebook.

Paranawithana said after work around 7.00 pm, she had gone to catch the metro when she saw a familiar face, in conversation with a French woman.

She wished Kumaratunga who was in denim and trench coat, “Bonsoir Madam, quelle bonne surprise.”

Paranawithana said she was surprised to find an ex-president travelling without bodyguards, adding that they had a friendly chat.
