A coordinating secretary of a powerful minister had pressured a senior police officer last night (03) urging the latter not to take any measures against Gangodawila Magistrate - Kanishka Gamage, who had ordered to release Colombo Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage on bail, sources from the police headquarters say.
The Colombo Additional Magistrate stands accused of having kept a baby elephant by producing fake documents.
The said coordinating secretary had desperately attempted to contact the officer with Magistrate Wijeratne over the phone.
The angered police officer had disconnected the phone call and had put down a police note on the attempted influence, sources further say.
