FCID summons evidence against Rajitha Featured

Anthony Perera, the son of former UNP minister - Joseph Michael Perera has been suddenly summoned to the police FCID recently.

Perera was summoned to obtain a statement over various corrupt activities at the Fisheries ministry while Rajitha Senaratne was functioning as the minister.

As a result of a political clash between minister Rajitha and a government bigwig, a series of corrupt dealings involving Senaratne are being published on an English weekend newspaper.

Joseph Michael Perera functioned as the Fisheries minister during the 100-day programme of the 'Good Governance' government and Anthony, who was his private secretary then, had given the FCID a host of details pertaining to corrupt activities in the ministry which had taken place during the Rajapaksa era.

Minister Rajitha recently questioned during a media briefing why the FCID is not arresting those in the Joint Opposition who are facing corruption alleges. After this, a highly placed officer at the FCID had yesterday (03) handed over a dossier containing corruption charges levelled at minister Senaratne, to the President and the Prime minister.

Meanwhile, Prime minister Ranil WIckremesinghe had yesterday (03) ordered authorities to prepare a name list of officials in state institutions who had allegedly misused state assets and taxpayer money during the Rajapaksa era.

Complaints received by the Presidential Secretariat and the Prime minister's office on such officials are also to be handed over to the relevant authorities.
