Mathurata has been accused over the arrest and assault of a person said to be the driver of Gamini Senarath, chief-of-staff of the former president.
The man, Sarath Dissanayake, was taken by force by CCD officers and beaten up, telling him to admit to a theft of money, according to a complaint lodged by the Anti Corruption Front to the Human Rights Commission.
The ANC said they condemned the torture of the Dissanayake, a key witness to a massive swindling by the previous Rajapaksa regime.
On 07 January 2015, he had cashed cheques for Rs. 12,600 million and handed over the money to Senarath at his Rosmead Place home, ANC charges.
