Ms. Premachandra recently pledged support to the common opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena.
Speaking to BBC, spokesperson of the opposition common candidate - MP Rajitha Senaratne said that Ms. Premachandra who had briefly gone overseas due to threats she was facing, was back in the country and would join the opposition common candidate's election campaign from today (14).
He also said that members of the underworld gangs who murdered Ms. Premachandra's father were behind the threats.
Hirunika, who crossed over to the opposition on Dec. 08, was also present at the meeting in Kandy. However, as threats intensified, she had left for Singapore on the advice of former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.
Hirunika is to address the public at several meetings in Kalutara district today (14).
