Navagaththegama Navodya School Principal invited former UPFA North-Western provincial councillor Ananda Sarath Kumara, who was remanded for forcing a female teacher to kneel down before him , for the school’s inter-house sports-meet.

Following this incident the Principal was transferred to Zonal Education Office. As a result the Vice Principal , W.M Swarnathilaka, was appointed as the acting principal.

However, it has been reported that there is secret plan to appoint the husband of the Vice Principal as the Principal of Navagaththegama Navodya School.

The husband is reportedly a Class iii Principal of a primary school and the his wife (W.M Swarnathilaka) is to be appointed as the Principal of the particular school.

School sources report that the acting principal is taking arbitrary measures and teachers are treated according to her preference.

The future of the school has been severely affected by this administrative tug of war and concerned figures are requesting the relevant authorities to take measures to appoint a qualified principal to the school.
