The media spokesman of Sri Lanka Freedom Party Minister Dilan Perera has said that since the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa cannot contest in a presidential election again according to existing rules there is no use in provoking the public requesting them to make him the President once again.
According to the constitutional amendments the former President Chandrika Bandaranaike also cannot contest in a presidential election, which he is extremely glad about , the Minister said.
He further stated that though he is extremely sad about Mahinda Rajapaksa being unable to contest, even MP Namal Rajapaksa was in favour of the particular amendment.
