‘No’ to ragging & laws against ragging

‘No’ to ragging & laws against ragging Featured

Four female and three male students of Kelaniya University have been remanded by courts until May 17 for ragging a new female student for having worn jeans.

Students union head of Kelaniya University Nandana Sudesh Abeysinghe accused authorities of using the so-called ragging to avoid giving solutions to students’ problems.

He claimed no physical ragging was taking place, and only an introduction of new students to the university culture was being done.

Abeysinghe said that among those arrested were first year students.

He added that they wanted neither ragging nor laws to prevent ragging.
