In a complaint to the FCID, the officer in charge of rituals (Kapu Mahattaya) Ramakrishna Thenabadu has alleged Basnayake Nilame Dishan Gunasekara had swindled 5.35 million from Devale.

The money had been collected through a fair during the perahera season and the sale of old brass items belonging to the Devale.

Pursuant to the complaint, the Matara special crime division, as instructed by the FCID, sent a reply to Thenabadu, which said their investigation found no wrongdoing.

Therefore, he was asked by the FCID to submit an audit report through the Buddhist Affairs Department.

Thenabadu is asking whether he should complain to the FCID had he the ability to secure such a report.
