The arrested group included the Temple's chief incumbent.

The astrologer, named Sameera Kasun Chandrasiri, has forwarded a letter addressed to the IGP, the military intelligence head, the State Intelligence Service head and the Commissioner of Archaeology.

He mentions that it was attempted to build a Rama Temple on this premises five years back and that the site is said to be of historic value as it is said to be the place where Queen Sita took her oaths.
