The day had started with several early guests including religious leaders who had come to bless him.

Among the early morning visitors were Pavithra Wanniarachchi and Kanchana Jayaratne, who had turned up with a birthday cake.

The cake was ceremoniously cut and served to visitors when Kanchana has said, "There is no one to feed cake to you sir, so I will do it," before doing so.
