Convener of Pragathishili Govi Jana Ekamuthuwa , Kavudulle Jayatissa, states there is a secret network of sellers selling the agrochemicals which were banned in order to prevent the kidney diseases spreading in the North Central Province.

It has been revealed that the farmers are spraying these agrochemicals into the paddy stores in order to preserve the paddy.

Banned chemical, glyphosate, is being illegally sold to farmers for Rs.5000, he said.

The particular network is operating in many areas including Dambulla, Polonnaruwa, Hingurakgoda, Ampara, Nuwara Eliya, Thambuththegama, Anuradhapuraya , Puttalam and Mathale and the government should take immediate actions to prevent the situation, he added.
