A recently arrested ex-LTTE member said to be having links to the underworld, is said to have backed two main UNP candidates who contested last year's general election from the Colombo District, reports say.

The former LTTE member arrested by the STF in Galle is identified as Stanley Kennedy who had been in the Charles Anthony brigade of the LTTE.

Investigations have revealed that he is linked to the twin murders that took place near the Balapitiya courts complex recently.

It is said that he is also linked to the clash that occurred near an UNP office in Kotahena ahead of the General election.
