Sri Lankan delegation visits Taxila museum

A 40-member high ranking delegation of Sri Lankan senior Buddhist monks and Buddhist scholars led by Parliament Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and Buddha Sasana, justice minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe and Ven Bangala Upatissa, advisor to the minister of finance including politicians, academicians and officials visited ancient Taxila museum and ancient Taxila University on Friday.

During the visit they also offered their religious rituals and preached at Taxila Museum.

Deputy High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Dr Sarfraz Ahmed Khan was also present on this occasion.

The delegation members thanked the Pakistan government for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to them.

The high level delegation of Sri Lanka Buddhist Monks and eminent scholars is currently in Pakistan for a week-long visit aimed at introducing the rich Buddhist Gandhara heritage of Pakistan to the people of Sri Lanka as well as to revive the Gandhara trail.
