According to the head of the International Cooperation Department of Russia’s state technology corporation Rostec, Viktor Kladov, a Sri Lankan defence delegation has visited the Rostec’s exhibition stand at the International Defence Services Asia Exhibition (DSA-2016), being held from April 18 to 21 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and inquired about the warships.
“Not only Bangladesh, but also Sri Lanka, have expressed serious interest,” Kladov had told reporters adding that Gepard-class frigates are designed to engage surface ships, submarines and air targets, both independently and as part of a task force, as well as to perform escort and patrol tasks. Russia is ready to respond to a relevant request from Sri Lanka or Bangladesh as soon as it is submitted, Kladov had further added.
DSA is one of the largest exhibitions of weapons and military equipment for land, air defence, naval and special operations forces in the Asia-Pacific region. Over 300 products of the Russian military-industrial complex are being presented at the exhibition.
