In a media release, the collective says “Appointment of officers to such high positions in the State recommended by the CC requires serious vetting for integrity and competence. This requires a very transparent and strict procedure with citizens having access to all related information. Yet, the CC completely dominated by parliamentarians and these parliamentarians wherever they belong to politically, are averse to such open and independent procedure in recommending officers to high positions in the State. This was more than evident in how the appointment to the post of Attorney General (AG) was carried through.”

The statement adds : Even before the appointment of the AG, we as "DecentLanka2015" on 16 October, 2015 made it very clear in our public statement on appointing independent commissions, "We are not in any way satisfied in how the 19A was written into the Constitution."

"Now we have to say clearly and firmly, we are totally disgusted and opposed to how the parliamentarians use the CC politically, having distorted the very necessity of establishing an apolitical CC."
