Future Minds 2016 launched

Career Exhibition launched its Future Minds, the premier Higher Educational and career exhibition launched its 2016 edition, the debut of its 2nd decade at the Cinnamon Grand, here on 30th March 2016.

The exhibition, organised by the Junior Old Boys’ Association of Nalanda College will be kicked off at the BMICH from 17th to 19th of June.

The second phase will be held at the KCC in Kandy on 25th and 26th of June and the third phase at the Galle Town Hall on 3rd and 4th September.

The event was announced at a media briefing in Colombo yesterday (30) which was attended by Deputy Minister of State Enterprise Development - Eran Wickramaratne, renowned personalities in the private education sector and Future Minds officials.

The media briefing was followed by a panel discussion on "Preparing the Sri Lankan student for the global job market."

Speaking, minister Eran Wickremaratne said, "We have to open the door to legitimate private education in this country. We need the state system. We need free education. We must commit higher percentage of GDP into the state education system. But the demands are so great... Society so complex... Governments can't deal with it... Therefore, we need to legitimize the role of private education in this country for the sake of the future generation... For the sake of our children."

Speaking, Future Minds Chairman, Chathura Lakindu said, it was a tremendous achievement to complete 10 years and 2016 marks a new era for the expo in stepping into the second decade.

The expo keenly looked forward to by students hopeful for higher education reached the decade completion milestone in 2015. It will host close to 150 higher educational institutes including universities from countries such as the UK, Australia, Singapore, USA, Malaysia, New Zealand, India and more.

The exhibition is highly focused on the education aspect of building careers with the strong belief that a solid foundation with high quality academic qualifications is the key to success.

Future Minds will concentrate on the family based theme so that students visiting the exhibition will benefit from the maturity, experience and consensus of a parent in choosing a higher education programme.

Career guidance sessions, one on one career counselling will be held while Talent Tank competitions in language and IT segments will provide space for students to showcase their talents.

Future Minds educational and commercial sponsors officially handed over their sponsorships to Future Minds officials and a panel discussion on “Preparing the Sri Lankan Student for the global job market” was held with the participation of distinguished academic personalities and industry leaders.

Future Minds oflicials invited families with students aspiring for higher education to visit Future Mind 2016 in their new journey of a “Brand new decade” and benefit from the vast opportunities present at the expo.
