Customers harassed over defaulted payments to Lanka Bell

Customers harassed over defaulted payments to Lanka Bell Featured

Yesterday (24), Sri Lanka Mirror exposed how Lanka Bell, whose majority shareholder is leading businessman Harry Jayawardena, is violating telecommunication regulatory laws and disclosing personal details of its customers, who have defaulted bill payments, to a third party, which has been sending postcard warnings to them.

According to that exposure, the task of recovering the payments has been given to an institution by the name Rimacwin Management (Pvt.) Ltd., whose address is given as no: 78/1, Main Street, Battaramulla.

When contacted, Lanka Bell general manager (finance) Quintus Fernando said sending the postcards was done by Rimacwin Management, and not them (Quintus audio).

However, he refused to reveal the nature of the agreement Lanka Bell is having with Rimacwin Management.

Legal experts say customers could take the matter to courts.

It has now been exposed that Rimacwin Management is recruiting unskilled workers, using them to harass the public in order to collect defaulted payments of its clients.

Those who have been harassed by Rimacwin Management could contact our research division on 0113358401 and give further information.
