Pilot Nick Mitrani flew his now-fiancee Jacqulene Bonarrigo over the south shore of Long Island for her first ride in a small airplane. While Jacqulene was under the impression that she was keeping an eye out for a few of their friends who were standing down below, Nick was really flying her over a cluster of wooden boards that he had used to spell out 'Marry Me' on the beach below.

And a stunned Jacqulene could barely get the words out as she accepted Nick's proposal.

But before they took flight, Nick had cut up wooden pallets and painted them black, enlisting his mother, brother and a
few friends to take the boards to the beach and spell out 'Marry Me'.

A video, which was shared on the Break Clips YouTube channel yesterday, chronicles the start of their flight, as well as the moment Nick asks Jacqulene to marry him.

The nearly four-minute clip begins with Nick asking Jacqulene how she feels about her first flight in a small plane.
'I'm okay,' she says tentatively. 'It's a little bumpy.'

Nick laughs and notes: 'It's not that bumpy at all.'

And when Jacqulene admits that she doesn't know what to do with her hands, Nick puts her at ease and tells her to do what she wants with them.

'I'll let you fly a little bit too,' he says before Jacqulene replies that she isn't ready to try steering just yet.
Jacqulene is slightly perplexed as to why Nick believes they will be able spot their friends on the beach, but she keeps looking out the window at his request.

'I'll slow down so we can get a better look. I think I see them,' he tells her, before leaning over and indicating down to something on the beach.

'What [does] that say?' he asks her he flies over over his intended destination. 'Marry Me?' she reads, not really
grasping what is going on.

Nick pulls out her engagement ring while Jacqulene is still looking out the window. When she turns around and realizes what is happening she yells: 'Holy sh**!'

'Jackie, will you marry me?' Nick asks his stunned girlfriend. ‘Will you marry me?' he asks her again.
But Jacqulene still needs time to process his surprise proposal.

'Oh my god are you serious?' she asks him before saying: 'Yes!'

And even after she accepted Nick's proposal, she was still shocked, repeating the phrases 'holy 'sh**' and 'oh my god' over and over.

At the end of the video Nick joking asks her if she was surprised, in which she replied with a resounding: 'Yes.'
And Nick isn't the only pilot who has proposed while up in the air.

In March, an Alaska Airlines pilot named Eric Greener proposed to his flight attendant girlfriend Brandy Hollenbeck some 34,000ft in their air in front of a cabin full of passengers.
