Selfie elbow becoming a medical condition

Selfie elbow becoming a medical condition

You read that right, taking too many selfies might result in harming your elbow because of overuse.

NBC journalist - Hoda Kotb, went to her doctor to ask why her elbow was painful. His diagnosis was due to how it was overused caused by taking too many selfies. Similar to carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow, flexing and folding your arm to get the right angle can strain your muscles.

"I went to the orthopaedist and he said, 'are you playing tennis or ping-pong?' I told him I was taking selfies," Kotb was quoted as saying.

"When you take the picture, your arm is up, bent in a weird way and you just click, click, click -- think about how many you take: 20, 30, or 40. Selfie elbow, everyone has it," added Kotb, who is also a well-documented figure on photo-sharing website Instagram.

So if you’ve been feeling that same pain in your elbow, and have been called out for always taking a selfie, you might just want to take some caution.
