Sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara has said that cash prizes would be given to the winners, at Rs. 500,000 for a gold medal, Rs. 300,000 for a silver medal and Rs. 100,000 for a bronze medal.
Sr Lankans have won 25 gold, 55 silver and 83 bronze.
Winning seven gold, two silver and one bronze, swimmer Mathew Abeysinghe alone will claim Rs. 4.2 million.
Kimiko Rahim, with five gold and one bronze, should get Rs. 2.8 million.
The sports ministry had estimated a cost of Rs. 3,000 million for the 700-member contingent to the SAG.
