Sanath, Hashan try to return as selectors

Sanath, Hashan try to return as selectors Featured

Former chief selector Sanath Jayasuriya and ex-member Hashan Tilakaratne are trying to return to the cricket selection committee, say Sri Lanka Cricket sources.

They lost their positions mainly due to the national team’s failure at the 2015 World Cup.

Being a cricket selector is now a means of leading a luxurious life, commentators say.

During the last World Cup, a member of the selection committee received an allowance of nearly Rs. 400,000, while Jayasuriya got paid Rs. 200,000 per month.

In addition, they received accommodation and other allowances in dollar terms during foreign trips.

The full-time selectors at the time were Tilakarane and Pramodya Wickremasinghe.
