Kusal's case goes to FCID Featured

Sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekera has said that a certain individual connected to match fixing is linked to the doping incident of Sri Lankan Cricketer - Kusal Janith Perera.

The cricketer currently faces charges of using banned substances.

Speaking to a newspaper interview, the minister said Kusal's urine samples contained only a slight percentage of banned substances.

"With regard to Kusal's case, he states that he did not take banned substances. His urine samples contained only a slight percentage of banned substances. We are conducting an investigation on this regard. An individual connected to a match fixing programme is actively linked to this incident," he added.

"I am thinking of reporting of this to the FCID. To decide what measures should be taken after questioning this incident. We don't know whether there was a plot to get rid of Kusal altogether after failing to use him for match fixing. There is a huge mafia surrounding this incident. Kusal is an important factor in the next World Cup," the minister has further said.
