Inoka Ranaweera sets record with first hat-trick

New Zealand Women beat Sri Lanka Women by 96 runs in the first One-Day International in Lincoln yesterday (03) after Rachel Priest had registered her maiden ODI century.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom for the Lankans as left arm orthodox bowler Inoka Ranaweera, who went for 34 runs in her 1st five overs, came back to pick up the first hat-trick by any international team against New Zealand as she dismissed Anna Peterson, Erin Bermingham and Lea Tahuhu off the final three balls of the innings.

She was also the first female spinner of the Sri Lankan team to take a hat-trick.

She finished with career best figures of 4 for 53.

Nilakshi De Silva also bowled reasonably well, dismissing Perkins to claim her 1st ODI wicket.
