SLC media manager on personal tour during Test match

SLC media manager on personal tour during Test match Featured

With the second Test against the West Indies set to start today (22), Sri Lanka Cricket media and communications manager - Rajith Fernando is to leave on a personal tour to the US tonight, internal SLC sources say.

He has been given the green light by the chief of the SLC marketing division - Vajira Dasanayake, who himself landed in controversy recently after handing over an altered receipt to the accounts division.

Cricket officials and journalists alike have been critical of the above move to allow the media and communications manager go on a personal tour overseas when an important Test match is underway.

Although Rajith had arrived at the SLC at the present, he had not visited the match venue yet, reports add.

Meanwhile, it is said that Rajith has lengthened his contract period after providing special lunches on the preference of three journalists during match days.

Rajith ordering a special beef lunch for a veteran journalist of a newspaper that has now been closed down, is an 'open secret'.

After bringing in lunches of their choice, Rajith has then used them to praise the Interim committee members, eventually using it to lengthen his own contract, rumours add.
