Yohan showed his prowess starting from School Cricket at Mahanama and playing first class Cricket for Anthonian Sports Club where he shone was a all rounder. Subsequently he went to UK and got Qualified in Coaching as well as in Umpiring.
He achieved ECB Level 1 (England and Wales Cricket Board @ Middlesex County Cricket Board in 2006.
He graduated with higher Education in Cricket Coaching at Newcastle College awarded by Leeds Metropolitan University and endorsed by Durham Country Cricket board, United Kingdom in 2009. Then he achieved UKCC Level 1 2009 and UKCC Level 2 in 2011 from Durham Country Cricket Board, UK. He also qualified in Umpiring by achieving ECB ACO 1 and 1A Umpire at Ealing, Middlesex Country Cricket Board and ECB ACO. (England and Wales cricket Board association for Cricket officials) in 2014 and 2015.
He also Umpired Middlesex Championship League. At all levels, he was in the panel of League Umpires. Yohan also had the distinction of following the Emergency first aid sports awarded by St. Johns ambulance in UK. Also followed courses awarded by UK Sports Coach, and successful in equity in coaching, safeguarding and protecting Children and Young People.
He also holds the qualification in Science of Human Movement, Coaching and the Psychology of performance, programmed Evaluation and Design, Personal and Professional Development, Management and Administration of Cricket and Work based projects. He was the second Sri Lankan to achieve this degree after Shehan Samaratunge.
