Lankan netballers off to Australia Featured

The Sri Lanka netball team, led by Semini Alwis, left this morning for Australia to take part in the 14th netball world cup.

Sri Lanka, currently ranked 24th, is in group ‘C’ along with Singapore, Souith Africa and Malawi.

Their first game against Singapore will take place on August 07, followed by games with Malawi (Aug. 08) and South Africa (Aug. 10).

Vice captain of the Sri Lankan team is Gayani Samanthika, while the rest of the members are Darshika Lakmali, Surekha Kumari, Darshani Abeykoon, Shanika Weeraratne, Lakmali Mendis, Gayanjali Amarawansa, Niroshani Paiva, Thisala Algama, Thilini Dineshika and Viraji Chamarika.

The coach is Dipthi de Alwis, assisted by Thamara Liyanage.
