The Financial Criminal Investigation Division (FCID) yesterday (17) informed Colombo Chief magistrate that investigations have been initiated on Football Federation funds being siphoned to a private bank account of Manilal Fernando.

The probe will look into how foreign funds amounting to nearly 30 million which were granted to the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL), had ended up in the account of Fernando, who was a former chairman of FFSL.

The magistrate ordered to probe into the bank accounts of the former chairman and FFSL officials.

The magistrate further ordered to probe into the Government audit reports whether any discrepancies had taken place in the FFSL during the last 07 years.

The FCID informed the court that the case was filed over a complaint made by former FFSL chairman Ranjith Rodrigo.
