Speaking to 'BBC Sandeshaya', SLC development coach - Ravindra Pushpakumara has said, "Small children try to copy him after watching him on TV... It is after that that this problem started."
He has added that around 120 school cricketers were found to be using the wrong technique in the last 1 1/2 years and measures are being taken to rectify this.
Easy while at school
Speaking further, Pushpakumara has said that only 13 out of these 120 school cricketers were allowed to return to play.
However, since the rectifying process was initiated, there is a marked decline in illegal bowling actions among school cricketers, he added.
Sri Lankan bowler Sachithra Senanayake had to rectify his bowling action before proving that his new action was legal.
Pushpakumara says that it is hard to rectify the bowling action of a senior player such as a national or first-class player.
"It will be a hard task for him to reach his old level of play. Therefore, the player should decide what to do," he has said.
On the contrary, it is quite easy to rectify the incorrect playing actions of schoolchildren, he has added.
