A certain batsman earned Rs. 57 million last year, which was at a rate of Rs. 56,000 per run he scored.
Another got paid at the rate of Rs. 26,000, to collect Rs. 73 million.
The minister said he approved of SLC’s decision to pay the national cricketers based on their performance.
He went onto say that he would appear on behalf of the players if the new method proved to be unfair by them.
The minister also said an investigation would be conducted into players, other than members of the national team, who have been chosen to be given contracts by SLC.
