Inquiry today into tender violation at SLC

Inquiry today into tender violation at SLC Featured

The sports ministry is to hold an inquiry today (11) into a complaint with regard to the purchase of 6,000 seats to improve capacities of local stadiums for the upcoming home series against Australia.

However, any positive outcome is unlikely, because Sri Lanka Cricket chairman Thilanga Sumathipala and sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara have now become very close friends.

In the tender procedure, the highest bidder was given the contract to supply the seats.

A day before the sports minister ordered the suspension of the tender, the supplier had opened letters of credit to buy the seats, reports reaching Sri Lanka Mirror say.

In a similar manner, SLC is to buy two luxury buses for the national team and a small van for the officials.
