Port unionists start Satyagraha

Four Port trade unionists launched a Satyagraha near the third entrance to the Ports Authority today (10) in support of a work-to-rule campaign by fellow workers.

The aim is to press for the bonus and other demands.

As a result of this campaign, the SLPA is incurring a loss of many millions of rupees a day.

Its managing director Sarath Kumara Premachandra said disciplinary action would be taken against workers who disrupt its activities.

Speaking to the media, he described the union action as an act of sabotage.
