Moving the adjournment proposal in parliament yesterday (06), Gunawardena accused the director general of the commission of losing independence and investigating only the complaints against opposition MPs.
The DG is intentionally avoiding investigations into politicians, who were ministers in the UPFA government, and now in the present regime.
Joining the debate, MP Jayantha Samaraweera alleged there were accusations of abuse of finances by the commission’s DG.
The accountant has refused to accept the bills for the renovation of the DG’s official residence, as she already has another house in a Colombo suburb, contrary to a sworn affidavit given before her swearing in.
The address in the affidavit is Thawathugoda Road, Hokandara, and the distance to the commission from there is 16 km.
