The project under amended terms is to be signed during the Chinese tour of Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Speaking to 'BBC Sandeshaya', co-convener of the People's Movement against the Port City Project - Sajeewa Chamikara says that all proceedings pertaining to the project took place in an illegal manner, right from the start.

He added that the project, even under amended terms would be highly harmful to the country.

Mr. Chamikara further says that the Good Governance government had extended the area of the proposed city to 269 hectares from the original 233 hectares.
