Ministry staff stops using water tank at Thonda-owned building

Ministry staff stops using water tank at Thonda-owned building Featured

Staff at the power and renewable energy ministry at no. 71, Ananda Coomeraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 07 has stopped using pipe-borne water for some time now.

That is because the large tank supplying water to the building is located below the car park, and there is talk that rainwater as well as polluted water get collected in the tank.

The building is owned by R. Thondaman, and it had been rented for the ministry during the Rajapaksa regime for an exorbitant rate.

Rumours are making rounds that the inflated rental was meant for Thondaman to change his political allegiance.

That is why Patali Champika Ranawaka failed during his term as the power and energy minister in his attempts to relocate the ministry elsewhere.
