Fmr. PS member's 'topsy turvy' protest Featured

A former Pradeshiya Sabha member has stood on his head as a mark of protest against pending Local Government polls.

Former UPFA member of the Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha - Helapiya Nandaraja had tied black bands on his wrists and head before standing on his head in protest.

Nandaraja said that as his requests made to the Yahapalana government while standing on his feet had gone unheeded, he had protested while standing on his head.

Several other local politicians had supported Nandaraja.

Signature campaign
Meanwhile, the joint opposition says that a signature campaign will commence today (31) calling to hold LG polls soon.

Speaking UPFA MP Ranjith de Zoysa says that the government is deliberately postponing the election and that the petition signed in several main cities would be handed over to the Elections Commissioner.
