Northern province governor- Reginald Cooray has said that no measures have been taken to halt constructions of a Buddha statue at the Nagadeepa Viharaya.
Speaking in Jaffna, the governor said that recent media reports citing this were false.
He added that directives were given to construct the statue under the approval of the Coast Conservation and Coastal Resource Management Department.
