Namal has tweeted, asking as to why the ministry of foreign affairs was not doing it.
He has raised the matter as the government is moving to strengthen relations with China.
State minister Niroshan Perera has made an advanced visit, on the PM’s guidance, to China to discuss bilateral relations, including Chinese investments to Sri Lanka.
It was part of an exchange programme which is the result of talks president Maithripala Sirisena has had with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jingping during a visit to Beijing.
Accompanying Perera in the visit are several MPs, youth representatives and young professionals.
He has undertaken several visits to China previously too.
