UNP accused over economic crisis!

UNP accused over economic crisis! Featured

The SLFP ministers and MPs in the government have decided that they should be freed from responsibility with regard to the economic crisis facing the government as they do not hold any cabinet duty relating to the country’s economy, reports say.

They have also taken a decision to function separately in the government, as the UNP appears to disregard their proposals relating to economic-decision making.

The SLFP politicians in the government had a discussion recently and agreed to submit an alternative budget as against the UNP’s economic proposals and the budget.

Wrong economic policies of the UNP has led to difficulties in paying the festival advances of public servants as well as adding the Rs. 2,500 payment to their basic salary as promised by the budget, they have pointed out.

They have told the president that he should intervene in these matters.

President refuses to intervene

According to reliable sources, the president has said that he would not unnecessarily intervene in ministry activities, as he has handed over the task of governing the country to prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as per a promise given to him and the UNP at the election.

All should cooperate for the sake of building the economy, he has added.

However, the SLFP MPs have noted with dejection that the PM should listen to them in affairs of the economy, without sidelining them as they too, were part of the government.
