Golden Key depositors fasting against CB governor Featured

Depositors of Golden Key Credit Card company are staging a fast in front of the Central Bank building accusing CB governor Arjun Mahendran of disregarding a written presidential directive with regard to the payment of their outstanding dues.

The president’s secretary Anil Amaratunga has issued the directive on a complaint by one of the depositors.

The complaint says that the depositors’ money should be reimbursed as per orders on 23 October 2009 in case no. SC (FR) 191/2009, as amended by court order on 29 July 2013.

The outstanding dues of depositors after rebate is Rs. 13,660 million, but the figure had been manipulated to be advantageous to Lalith Kotelawala and other respondents and shown as Rs. 9,179 million.
