Mahinda’s undocumented credit, a headache for Ranil

The Mahinda Rajapaksa regime allowed state institutions to obtain credit from foreign institutions during a six year period, and those details are not included in the budgets, says former senior deputy governor of the Central Bank W.A. Wijewardena.

Prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has a responsibility to investigate how much in total had been obtained as undocumented credit, he has told ‘Silumina’.

As a result of this credit, Standard and Poor has downgraded Sri Lanka’s credit rating, he said.

The present government should rectify this within the next 12 months, or else, this rating will go down further, he warned.
