Namal influenced police over Thajudeen murder probe Featured

Police headquarters sources say MP Namal Rajapaksa had influenced a top police officer to immediately free the body of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen, who died mysteriously, as investigations were ongoing.

This is stated in police records submitted when the investigations were handed over to the CID.

The records also say the then senior SP Anura Senanayake, one of the closest associates of the Rajapaksa family, had directly got involved in the investigation.

Meanwhile, vital information, hitherto unexposed, with regard to the killing of Thajudeen came to light when two of his closest friends, Jeyapragash and Toufique, gave statements to the CID last week.

These two are still having close connections with Namal Rajapaksa, it has been established.
