The minister was speaking at a media briefing at the information department today (08).

Noting that he did not engage in double games like Welgama, Samarasinghe said that he will not urge party supporters to make Mahinda Rajapaksa the prime minister.

Noting that he was appointed as Pandura organiser by the President, Samarasinghe added that he had lost preferential votes after Welgama and the clan had spread lies while visiting villages.

The minister added that it was him and not the Welgama clan who is endeavouring to safeguard the SLFP.

Speaking recently, Welgama had stated that Samarasinghe's electorate would be defeated at the upcoming polls.
