Amended Prevention of Terrorism Draft Bill submitted Featured

The Law Commission Department has submitted the amended Prevention of Terrorism Draft Bill with human rights safeguards to the three relevant Ministers, said its Chairman Senior Attorney Romesh de Silva yesterday. The three Ministers are Justice and Buddhasasana Minister Dr Wijayadasa Rajapakshe, Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrema.

He said the amended Draft Bill safeguarding human rights was formulated at the request of the three Ministers. He said the amendments have been made without causing any hindrance to Police investigations after studying international laws and regulations and similar legislation in Asia and consultations with the Attorney General and the BASL.
